Program Overview

The Diplomat Scholarship – Scholarship for the Children of Official Delegates is a national initiative designed to support the families of Saudi representatives serving abroad. As government officials undertake international responsibilities on behalf of the Kingdom, this scholarship ensures that their children can pursue higher education without academic disruption.

The program enables eligible students to enroll in accredited universities within the host country, strengthening their academic development during the period of the official assignment. Through access to distinguished educational environments, recipients gain advanced skills and cultural exposure that empower them to contribute effectively to the Kingdom’s future workforce and national priorities.

Aligned with Vision 2030, the scholarship helps nurture globally competitive graduates who can support innovation, diplomacy, economic sectors, and international cooperation once they return to Saudi Arabia.

Entry Requirements

  • Delegate Status

    To qualify, the applicant must be the child of a Saudi government employee who is officially delegated abroad on a formal assignment, such as:

    • Embassy or consular offices
    • Saudi Cultural Mission
    • Military attaché offices
    • Other Saudi government agencies overseas
Not eligible if the parent is abroad only for:
  • Personal higher studies
  • Short-term training
  • Unpaid or personal leave

➤ The delegation assignment must remain valid for at least 6 months from the expected start of the student’s academic program.

  • Residency Requirement

    The student must:

    • Reside full-time in the same country where the parent/guardian is officially stationed
    • Be enrolled as a regular, full-time student and maintain consistent academic progress
  • Academic Eligibility

    Undergraduate (Bachelor’s Degree)

    • Valid high school certificate or equivalent
      • Certificates obtained abroad must have official recognition/equivalency
    • Unconditional admission to:
      • An approved specialization
      • A university recognized by the Saudi Ministry of Education
      • Scholarships at this level are provided in accordance with Cabinet Resolution No. 946 — 12/11/1392 AH
Postgraduate (Master’s / PhD)
  • Approved academic admission from a recognized university
  • Applicant must not be a government employee
  • University Location & Accreditation
    • The university must be located in the same country of the parent’s official delegation
    • The institution must be accredited and listed by the Saudi Ministry of Education
    • The student must study at the main campus (branch campuses or online programs are not included)
Important Notes
  • The Ministry of Education may apply additional rules based on policy updates
  • Scholarship approval is subject to:
    • National workforce priorities
    • Specialization alignment with strategic needs
  • Scholarship benefits end immediately once the parent’s official assignment concludes
